All I know for sure (Obama VP speculation)
Tue Aug 19, 2008 at 09:07:16 PM PDT
All I know for sure is that it won't be Biden. There's always a false buzz around some old, tired name. Remember the NY Post reported that it was going to be Kerry-Gephardt last time around.
I think Biden was the perfect dupe because he SO got the Irish up among true progressives. So anyone will seem better than he.
So who will it be? Allow me to pull that name out of my wazoo. (With probabilities.)
Larry King is the worst.
Mon Jul 07, 2008 at 09:14:59 PM PDT
This might be short but I have to vent. I still maintain that Larry King is a worse cancer on the body politic than anyone Fox News has to offer.
Tomorrow, a streak will end.
Mon Mar 03, 2008 at 08:59:35 PM PDT
UPDATE: It's actually 31 straight contests. I forgot about getting all 4 right on the Saturday after Super Tuesday (ME, LA, WA and ND...or NE...wherever that last one was.) I'll rummage for the comment tomorro when the site is back to normal speed.
Everybody knows that Obama has won 11 consecutive primaries and caucuses. But I have an even more impressive streak: 27 consecutive contests predicted correctly. (No, really it's true. I have some evidence.)
Tomorrow night, one of those streaks will end. Because while I think Obama will win the night, he won't go four for four.
Stunning Vitriol from a Clinton Surrogate.
Wed Feb 20, 2008 at 07:44:40 AM PDT
Last night before Hillary spoke in Youngstown, OH she was introduced by Tom Buffenbarger, the president of an Aerospace machinists' union. To say he was "dismissive" Of Obama is to understate the case. Even worse, he turned it up a notch in describing Obama's supporters as some kind of effete band of yuppy scum. Think I'm exaggerating? Read on...
Obama Takes the lead in Rasmussen Poll.
Wed Feb 13, 2008 at 09:23:58 AM PDT
Just 5 minutes ago, Rasmussen reports posted the results of its daily national tracking poll and the result is a seizmic shift toward Obama. Yesteray Hillary had an 2 point lead. Today Obama has a 4 point lead.
Breaking: Huckabee Takes Kansas (Holy Shit, Toto.)
Sat Feb 09, 2008 at 12:16:47 PM PDT
Fox News has just announced that former Governor Mike Huckabee has beaten John McCain in the GOP Caucus in Kansas.
Because I like Being Wrong
Mon Feb 04, 2008 at 10:19:20 PM PDT
as much as the next fella....here goes my Super Tuesday 2008 predictions thread. Feel free to Nelson Munce "Ha-ha!" me if you see me on the street after tomorrow night.
My Sister Asked Me "Why Obama"?
Thu Jan 31, 2008 at 08:57:20 PM PDT
The other day my sister asked me "Why Obama?" This was in repsonse to a flippant PS on an email sent to our cousins along the lines of. "If you don't know who to vote for on Tuesday, vote for Obama." The last time we talked politics was probably 6 or 8 months ago, when I was leaning towards Richardson.
I gave her a fairly long answer about 3 or 4 good reasons why I am supporting Obama. But after watching the debate tonight I emailed her again with just one reason. The only reason.
This will be a short diary. Shorter than this intro even. But I think it's important and it's worth repeating to undecideds. See you after the jump...
Obama: The most votes, so far.
Wed Jan 23, 2008 at 05:49:10 PM PDT
The national media and even a lot of people on this site are beginning to act like Hillary is the presumptive nominee again. I find this interesting to say the least. We've had three contests so far and the results are this: Obama has gotten the most votes and the most delegates. South Carolina figures to extend this trend, but for now let's just talk about what's already on the board.
Drudge: Exit Polls Favor Mitt.
Tue Jan 15, 2008 at 04:37:30 PM PDT
I've been checking Drudge every day or so to see what the next bull shit scandal will be. Right now he has results of an exit poll for Michigan up. It seems that Dems for Mitt may have achieved their goal. Details after the break.
What Does Hillary Do Next?
Wed Jan 09, 2008 at 08:43:28 AM PDT
I was dead wrong about NH. Yesterday I had Obama winning by 16. I could kick myself for that because I knew that the emotional moment was going to help Hillary with women voters but I just got cauht up in the hoopla of Obama. (And Edwards' people-I overestimated your boy. I had him getting 19 percent.)
So now what does Hillary do? I can see two possible strategies.
My Predictions Again (Because I still have nothing better to do.)
Mon Jan 07, 2008 at 06:58:15 PM PDT
OSU seems to be on the way to another Big-Ten Embarrsment so I thought I'd write up a predictions diary insted of reliving the Rose Bowl. For the record, these were my predictions before Iowa:
Obama: 35 Clinton: 29 Edwards: 20 Richardson: 6 Biden: 5 Dodd: 3 Kucinich: 2
Pretty good, except for being off by 10 on Edwards.
Five White Guys Walk into a bar....
Sun Jan 06, 2008 at 07:42:20 PM PDT
and everyone fell asleep. I just want to get down my thoughts on the GOP debate and I realized that I had too much to write in a comment.
Grading the Iowa Speeches
Sat Jan 05, 2008 at 12:03:43 AM PDT
My Internet was down on the night of the IA Caucus so I watched MSNBC's coverage pretty much wall to wall. So I'm going to give you my impressions of the speeches-victory, conscession or somewhere in between that each candidate gave that night. NOTE: This diary is longer than I expected but PLEASE read the last 2 paragrphs if you're undecided about Obama's candidacy.
My Predictions (because I have nothing better to do.)
Thu Jan 03, 2008 at 09:13:50 AM PDT
I've been meaning to write a detailed and incisive prediction of the 2008 election cycle for months. Of course, real life kept getting in the way of that loft goal. So today I will settle for making my humble predeictiosn about tonight, and the coming weeks for both parties. This is an extrardinarily uninspiring idea for a diary but I want some way to record what I have in my head.
On the Ocassion of Kurt Vonnegut's 85th Birthday.
Sun Nov 11, 2007 at 08:57:35 AM PDT
Today would have been Kurt Vonnegut's 85th birthday if we didn't lose him about six months ago. This diary will be a short tribute to his memory and to Rememberance Day. (More about that on the flip.)
Why Immigration Matters to Wing-nuts
Wed Nov 07, 2007 at 07:36:48 AM PDT
First look at my signature line. I often get complimented on it, even by people who disagree with the substance of my posts. "Unrestricted immigration is a dangerous thing -- look at what happened to the Iroquois." Garrison Keillor That's a keeper for sure and mostly because it contains a great truth-one that motivates the GOP base to this day. The issue is important to me becauseI know that our economy is dependent on cheap labor that is most likely to be performed by immigrants. And I don't want to lose their contributions to our society and culture either. But from an intellectual point of view, I find it fascinating to think why it's so important to Republicans for all the wrong reasons. I posit two theories after the break.
Bill-O in Fine Form Tonight (DKos smeared again)
Mon Oct 22, 2007 at 08:32:37 PM PDT
I was flipping through the channels and saw that Bill O was interviewing a Navy SEAL who just wrote a book about the death of his heroic teammate. I wanted to hear what the SEAL said so I was willing to listen to the Seal bark in between his story.
Then he teased the next segment about being Bill Maher so I got roped in for another 7 minutes of FNC....always a bad idea.
But in that time he managed to smear Dailykos and make a total jackass of himself. Granted that normally takes a lot less than 7 minutes but follow me to the flip and I'll tell you a quick one.
